The Tox Loves Every Body

and I love The Tox

Grab your chlorophyll water, get comfy, and get ready to hear all about The Tox Walnut Creek!

I just left The Tox and I could not get home fast enough to this blog post.

What is The Tox?

The Tox Walnut Creek is the Bay Area’s first lymphatic drainage massage spa.

The Tox Technique is NOT your average lymphatic massage. It is a curation of the best modalities from all around the world. The Tox Method is a unique blend of Japanese ampuku, European and Brazilian cellulite massage, lymphatic drainage, and myofascial release that detoxifies the body and mind.

Before I break it down, you need to know that this is not a calming/relaxing massage treatment. Yes, there were some moments of relaxation but this is an aggressive treatment. I was wide awake the entire time…and I wouldn’t say that it was painful, but it was definitely uncomfortable at times.

Just as the Tox Technique is a unique blend of various massage modalities, outpatient addiction centers offer a range of treatment options that can be tailored to the individual’s specific needs. Outpatient addiction centers provide a less intensive treatment option for individuals who do not require 24-hour medical supervision or detoxification. These centers offer evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, as well as medication-assisted treatment for individuals struggling with opioid addiction. Outpatient addiction centers also provide support groups and counseling services for individuals in recovery and their families. By offering a range of treatment options, outpatient addiction centers can help individuals achieve long-term sobriety and lead fulfilling lives in recovery.

I had the 105 minute The Master Tox + Facial treatment today.

The treatment starts with the sculpting facial -> this is NOT your typical facial. This facial gives you immediate results removing muscle tension and naturally sculpting your face while ridding your body of excess toxins and bloat. The facial includes the use of a Gua Sha stone and Tox Sculpting wand to assist in toning the muscles of the face. The facial was by far the most relaxing (and least painful) part of the treatment. The facial is completed with the custom TOX caffeinated mask and let me tell you -> my jawline is popping and I am READY for my date tonight!

Next up -> The Master Tox

The Master Tox is a drainage technique that helps improve health while working directly with your lymphatic system. The Tox proprietary method moves fluid towards lymph nodes while incorporating different techniques that increase your metabolic rate, giving you long-lasting results.

Not only does this treatment flush water retention and give you an overall leaner look, the lymphatic system is also directly associated with the whole-body function. Improvements are evident in the circulatory, respiratory, and endocrine systems.

For this part of the service, they really go to town on your body. Yes, you are on a massage table and you start on your back and flip to your tummy like a traditional massage…but this is nothing like a traditional massage. From tapping inside your armpits to suctioning your legs this is a TREATMENT, not a massage.

Did it hurt? YES

Did I enjoy every minute of it? YES YES YES

I can’t believe that I’m sharing these photos…

but

HOLY SHIT I lost all the bloat in my tummy and all the inches!

trust and believe I booked another appointment in two weeks

Update

I had my second visit today and my mind was blown yet again. I had a different tech today and a bit of a different experience. Not only was this my second visit, but I ran 11 miles today and started the keto diet since my first visit.

I walked into The Tox Walnut Creek today exhausted from my run and with a raging headache from the keto flu and walked out a NEW PERSON. The treatment is excellent after long runs because it will help flush the lactic acid buildup from the run. It is also excellent to visit The Tox when you are on the keto diet because it helps with the metabolism. Here are some weight loss pills that actually work alongside with your diet for best results.

How do you get there?

If you are coming from San Francisco give yourself plenty of time! I had no trouble getting there from the city, but I did have a hard time locating The Tox in the shopping center.

Look for the Rite Aid and High Tech Burrito and The Tox is behind them!

The Tox Walnut Creek Q & A

I sent your questions to the team at The Tox.

Feel free to ask any additional questions in the comments.

Q

Can you describe the body treatment more? Is there any traditional massage? Painful similar to a deep tissue? Do your muscles feel less tense after? Would you say this would help with digestive issues? Sorry, so many questions but I’m super interested!

A

The Tox Technique is a proprietary combination of Brazilian lymphatic massage and Japanese ampuku. There is no traditional massage as The Tox works on moving lymph fluid out of the tissues and back into the lymphatic system. It is focused on getting your lymphatic system super healthy which has so many health benefits. Rids your body of toxins, helps with digestion and gastrointestinal issues, helps with sleep, energy, chronic pain, mood and so much more! As far as pain is concerned.. it doesn’t really hurt, some things might feel slightly uncomfortable depending on the sensitivity of your skin and sometimes even the time of the month. Overall .. it is AMAZING!! definitely a MUST!

Q

Do you have a discount code? How much does it cost?

A

The prices are as low as they will ever go for EVERYONE!! So take advantage of them NOW

FALL SPECIALS
MasterTox 60 Min: $150 (Reg $225)
MasterTox 90 Min: $225 (Reg $305)
MasterTox + Facial 105 Min: $250 (Reg $350)
* All purchases are good for 1 year from the date of purchase. Payment is required at this time of purchase. You may purchase as many services as you want at the FALL SPECIAL PRICING to use throughout the year.

Q

How long do the results last? How long did the benefits last?

A

The goal is to get the body healthy from the inside out. Results vary depending upon the person and lifestyle. The first treatment or two is to really open up the lymph channels and get the toxins out. The subsequent times allow for better detox because the lymph nodes are not as clogged. NOTE: it’s not just about the water retention, the lymph system is responsible for flushing toxins out that cause: Fatigue, Sleeplessness, Abnormal Hormones, Digestion Issues, and Chronic Pain.

Q

How often can/should you get this treatment done?

A

We recommend for optimal results to have the treatment every 2 weeks for 2 months and then maintenance every 2-3 months.

Q

Zero injections or shots, right?

A

Correct. There are no injections or shots.

Q

Curious if the second visit will fell less rough than the first?

A

The treatment shouldn’t really feel rough or painful. Some movements might hurt like on the stomach but overall should not be painful.

Q

Is it chill to do the day after a half marathon or should I wait?

A

YESSS!!  It will help flush the lactic acid buildup from the run!

Second Visit Questions

Q

Did you lose weight/does it stay off?

A

It’s not a weight-loss treatment. It helps get rid of toxins that cause water retention and bloat. If you are trying to lose weight it helps with metabolism.

Q

Curious if the second visit will fell less rough than the first?

A

The treatment shouldn’t really feel rough or painful. Some movements might hurt like on the stomach but overall should not be painful.

Katwalkf and shrimp at RH Yountville

Restoration Hardware Yountville

Last week I hit the road with my girls from San Francisco to Yountville for the ultimate ladies who lunch adventure at the new Restoration Hardware Yountville.

On a Thursday morning it took us about an hour and a half to get there (after a quick stop at Rustic Bakery in the Marin Country Mart <- worth the stop). Yountville is about twenty minutes north of downtown Napa and my new favorite stop when exploring wine country. If you love wine and luxury then you will love Yountville.

RH Yountville features a standalone full-service restaurant and wine tasting room with parking in the middle of the two structures. You can snag food, wine, coffee, and shop the latest Restoration Hardware designs in one spot. Restoration Hardware Yountville is also right in the heart of town and just steps away from some of my favorite tasting rooms in Yountville.

I made a reservation for five for lunch about a week before we dined there without a problem. There was a bit of a wait when we got there giving us plenty of time to snap some photos. The lighting is AMAZING so charge your phone and be prepared to take a photo of pretty much everything. The entire space is an Instagram Restoration Hardware dream!

After about a twenty-minute wait we were seated and shortly greeted by our lovely server. Everything from the place settings to the champagne flutes had a Restoration Hardware special touch. The food was solid and priced accordingly for the neighborhood. I shared the burger and shrimp cocktail with a friend and it was perfect for an afternoon in wine country. The entire experience was opulent + excellent and I will 100% be back.

What I Ate:

RH Burger – Sharp American Cheddar Cheese, Pickles, Onions, Dijonnaise, Lettuce, and Tomato $22

Shrimp Cocktail – Lemon, Dijonnaise, and Cocktail Sauce $20

Restoration Hardware Yountville is open daily, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The restaurant serves brunch until about 3:30 p.m. and then transitions into dinner service.

Any trip to Napa always includes a trip to Yountville and RH…even during COVID-19. This visit to RH Yountville was VERY different from my initial visit. Reservations are a MUST for any experience at the venue and I highly recommend making a reservation ASAP. Masks must be worn anytime you are not seated at the table (industry-standard pretty much everywhere in the Bay Area) and it was strictly enforced.

Service was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I could have spent the entire afternoon just chatting with our waiter. He suggested the burrata after we ordered a bottle of bubbles, an excellent pairing with our prawns to start. From there, we went with the crispy artichokes and the shaved ribeye on charred garlic bread (a dip sandwich). I would 100% suggest making a reservation and copying our exact order!

January Beauty Favorites

1| Diptyque, Set of Candles

I always snag a set of Diptyque candles during the holidays and light them while I apply my skincare routine. I like to create spa vibes in my apartment (since we can’t go to the spa right now) and it really helps!

Diptyque’s mini candles are crafted in France and housed in glass vessels. Packaged in a neat presentation box, this set makes the perfect hostess gift.

*If you are looking for a VERY affordable home scent ->snag this SANTAL oil and put it in your diffuser! Thank me later 🙂

2| Biologique Recherche, Lotion P50

Allow me to introduce you to the stinky skincare line that has completely transformed my skin! It smells like shit, it is EXPENSIVE AF, and it works like a MF!

Lotion P50 Review

ALL the fancy beauty blogs told me that it erases dark spots, shrinks pores, and balances your complexion…so I logged into the Shop Rescue Spa website and ordered my first bottle of P50 about 6 months ago.

How Does it Work?

Industry experts and beauty enthusiasts alike have long been reaping the glow-boosting benefits of this chemical method of exfoliation! Compared to manual exfoliation (ie: scrubs), it is so much more gentle and effective as it is working from the inside to the outside of the skin, as opposed to just touching the surface.

6 Month Update

It still smells like shit and it has completely transformed my skin. I’m on my third bottle and I will use this product every morning and evening for the rest of my life. Brace yourself for stinky skincare for the rest of your life. My Lotion P50 Review is a 10/10. Once you buy it you will never look back!

3| Nécessaire, The Body Serum {sephora sale}

The daily hyaluronic acid treatment for skin health that you NEVER knew you needed. This serum has completely transformed my dry winter skin. If you are looking for hydrated/glowy skin -> this is your product.

full Nécessaire brand review here

4| Donna Karan, Cashmere Mist

The HYPE is real! I am fully addicted to this deodorant. The anti-perspirant stick checks all the boxes for me and tt is ALWAYS sold out, but I found a few here.

More on my love for pricey beauty products here.

5| Saint Jane, The C-Drops Brightening Elixir {sephora sale}

The C-Drops Brightening Elixir is a potent, clean brightening treatment for glowy skin. Formulated with 20% active glycerin-encapsulated Vitamin C, ensuring maximum penetration to the skin’s deepest layers to power your glow and even skin tone, while 500mg full-spectrum CBD calms and soothes.

How I use it: Add 1 to 2 drops to your favorite moisturizer, mix together, and apply to the skin.

More drops = deeper tan!

Wash hands after application.

Travel to Hawaii During COVID-19

My experience traveling to Hawaii 11/24/2020-12/1/2020

this is JUST my experience with travel to Hawaii during COVID – please reference this website to ensure that you are following the most up to date restrictions

The State of Hawaii has a 14-day mandatory self-quarantine in place for U.S. Mainland or International travelers arriving into the state, as well as for inter-island travelers arriving in Maui, Kauai, Lanai, Molokai, or Hawaii Island.

Starting Oct. 15, the state launched its pre-travel testing program, offering guests traveling from the U.S. Mainland to Hawaii the option to forego the mandatory 14-day self-quarantine.

Travelers who take a valid COVID-19 test no MORE than 72 hours prior to arriving in Hawaii and again upon the arrival to the Online Casino ohne Lizenz resort, and upload a negative result into their Safe Travels account PRIOR to the final leg of their trip into Hawaii will be exempt from the self-quarantine. Otherwise, the State of Hawaii requires that you quarantine for 14 days or the length of your stay, whichever is shorter. Click here for more information.

Step 1: Register with the State of Hawaii Safe Travels online system. I would do this before you even book your tickets. The restrictions to the state’s pre-travel testing program are updated daily (ex. Kaui is no longer participating -> All incoming trans-pacific and inter-county travelers to Kauai will face a mandatory 14-day quarantine) and this website is where you will upload all of your travel info.

Step 2: Find a trusted testing travel partner and schedule your test ASAP based on your travel days/flight info->

IMPORTANT:  The state of Hawai‘i will ONLY accept Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from a certified Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) lab test results from TRUSTED TESTING AND TRAVEL PARTNERS: American Family Care (AFC), American Samoa Department of Health, Atlas Genomics, Bartell Drugs, Capstone Clinic, Carbon Health, CityHealth Urgent Care at Oakland Airport, Clarity Lab Solutions, Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii, Color, Costco/AZOVA, CVS Health, Diagnostic Laboratory Services (Hawaii), Discovery Health MD, GoHealth Urgent Care, Hawaii Pacific Health, Kaiser Permanente, Minit Medical, National Kidney Foundation of Hawaiʻi’s Consortium, through an agreement with the City and County of Honolulu, S&G Labs Hawai‘i LLC, University of Washington Medicine, Urgent Care Hawaii, Vault Health, Walgreens, WestPac Labs, and XpresCheck (as of 11/20/20).

I am located in San Francisco and have you used Color testing for COVID-19 regularly. They have a drive-through service on the Embarcadero that I find VERY easy to use, but appointments are very limited right now. If you are traveling on United to Hawaii it looks like they have a partnership here.

For this trip, I used the Vault Health service. Vault Health is an at-home FDA-authorized saliva test with real-time audio-visual supervision via Zoom. Tests available for ages five and older. Tests are mailed with accurate results in 72 hours or less. Information and costs can be found here.

Use this chart to ensure that you order and take your test on the correct days before your flight.
Travel to Hawaii During Covid, Vault Health, Hawaii Travel, Hawaii COVID travel

We traveled on a Tuesday and if you take anything away from this blog post it would be to NOT travel on a Tuesday or Wednesday to Hawaii! It is next to impossible to get your test results in a timely manner with the Vault Health testing due to UPS not shipping on Sundays. I took my test on a Saturday, ran to the closest CVS that had a Saturday pickup from UPS before 2 pm and my results didn’t arrive until 3:30 am Tuesday morning before my 8 am flight!

THIS WAS VERY STRESSFUL and I would suggest avoiding it at all costs.

Some additional tips from Vault Health for travel to Hawaii during COVID

FOR PASSENGERS TRAVELING ON TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS: Due to no Sunday UPS shipping and an increase in UPS holiday traffic, we encourage passengers to look for a local testing solution if traveling on a Tuesday or Wednesday for the remainder of the year.

Make sure to take your test over zoom in the morning and deliver your test to your local UPS store before the last air pick-up time for the day. Please make sure that your test is dropped at a verified UPS store, not a dropbox or 3rd-party affiliate. Click here to find the closest UPS store to you.

If you are taking the test on a Saturday, please verify with your local UPS store that the store has Saturday UPS Air Pickups.

We advise that you order your test at least one week before you plan on taking it.

Shipping to/from Maui, Kauai, Hawaii Island, Molokai, and Lanai may require an additional shipping day which may lead to results being provided outside of the 72-hour testing window. Please plan accordingly or consider a different testing solution.

Step 3: Upload the pdf of your negative test results to your Safe Travels profile.

Step 4:  24 hours prior to departure, log into Safe Travels, and complete the Travel Health Questionnaire and receive your QR code upon completion.

You will use this QR code to board your flight to Hawaii. They did not let anyone on our flight without a QR code.

Once we landed in Maui we went straight into a Safe Travel control line. The airport was staffed with a ton of people in yellow shirts guiding us through the process. It was almost like passport control, but the lines were shorter and the process was very quick and efficient.

We had to show our QR codes one more time when we checked into the hotel and then we were good!

Step 5: Grab a Mai Tai and enjoy beautiful Hawaii!

Remember to pack your mask and/or facial coverings in your carry-on luggage.

Masks are mandatory in Hawaii and must be worn in public.
