If you don’t know where that line comes from you open a new tab, google it and come back over here when you know.
OK. Now that we are all on the same page over here let’s discuss the standout pieces from this look. Yes, together they create the ultimate business special a la “Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion” however they can all easily work into your everyday wardrobe – even when you are not acting as a businesswoman.
Are you on the hunt for the perfect black pant for work? Look no further. If you are a fan of Jamie Jeans from Topshop than I am about to blow your mind! The Joni High Waist Skinny Jeans ($65) have everything you love about the Jamie Jeans but they are work appropriate. The pocketless front and cropped length elevate the retro flair of high-waisted skinny jeans and the inky black wash makes them perfect for the office.
Last but not least let’s have a quick chat about these pink shoes. Disclaimer: they are not my shoes. I saw them sticking out of Ashley from Two Peas in a Prada’s bag and may or may not have tried to steal them. The block heel adds just the right amount of height to any look without compromising comfort. Not into a pink shoe? Don’t worry they come in grey, sage and nude.
Oh, you mean the teen department at Nordstrom, Kathleen? Yep.
The Brass Plum department and BP. collection are available exclusively at Nordstrom (my go-to department store). BP. offers the best of juniors fashion (LOL), with cute, cool and covetable looks at affordable prices – yes, please. The Brass Plum department includes a wide range of clothing—like jeans, dresses, sweaters, tops and more—but I consistently find myself stocking up on sweaters. Why? They are on trend, affordable and sold at Nordstrom (the customer service capital of the shopping world). There is EVEN a book, The Nordstrom Way to Customer Experience Excellence: Creating a Values-Driven Service Culture about the AMAZING service behind Nordstrom.
Ok. So we’ve established that I love Nordstrom and their teen department (especially the sweaters) AND today I’m sharing three simple sweater looks from my favorite teen department, Brass Plum…
Fall arrived in San Francisco two months ago, so there are already plenty of fresh fall sweaters in my wardrobe. I snagged this statement cable-knit sweater for the always chilly Outside Lands music festival at the beginning of the month! The knit ruffle sleeves made just the right statement for the music festival and I have now styled it for an every day look…every day (sorry for the Instagram overload).
This statement sweater comes from Indie Brand, Style Mafia. With an affordable price point and just the right bit of modern edge and flare, Style Mafia has quickly become one of my favorite brands.
Maybe it is my Italian roots, maybe it is my champagne taste on a beer budget. Either way Mr. Valentino has a very special place in my heart.
Thanks to some savvy shopping I am lucky enough to own 2 pairs of Valentino shoes: The Tango Leather Pump + The Rockstud Ballerina Flat. I am proud to say that I did not purchase either pair full price + have nearly worn both to death due to their ability to jazz up every look. Are you in the market for a new pair of Valentino kicks, but on a mega-budget like me? Check out the latest styles from Valentino here on Lyst. They have taken the time to pick the latest styles + even alert you when things go on sale!
The Tango Leather Pumps have taken me all around town! Paired with a white dress for San Jose fashion week, the red pumps helped me take a white dress (after labor day) into fall. Styled with denim shorts + a striped tee the pumps took my summer day look into night on the Embarcadero. The last look is a bit of a blast from the past from a coffee date in North Beach. A black poncho, printed pants + red pumps for the final POP of color.
Selecting just 3 looks featuring The Rockstud Ballerina Flat was not easy. Do I really wear these that much? The first is from a recent evening in the park. Styled with my printed trench I was ready for a walk in the park. The second look is a bit more edgy with a vegan leather skirt + ruffled blouse. The last is yet another blast from the past! Am I channeling Carry Bradshaw or what?
Clearly I have had a ton of fun styling these kicks. Shop the latest + greatest from Mr. Valentino here + don’t forget to take advantage of the sale alerts too!
