First things first we can take a minute and address the fact that these photos were taken on the frigid streets of San Francisco in December – so needless to say it was maybe 60 degrees (not cold) and I had just walked out of a Soul Cycle class on Union Street.
Was there a need for base layers for this look? Hard no.
Did I just want to wear my new Sweaty Betty gear after Soul Cycle? Hard yes!
But I am also planning an upcoming ski trip to Utah and needed to test out my gear!
Now, what exactly are base layers?
Base layers are the first part of the layering systems starting next to the skin. The baselayers sit snug against the skin and are designed to trap a thin layer of warm air against the body.
Ok, that sounds good – not necessarily a layer we need in San Francisco, but a layer we could all use on a ski trip, especially the way I ski (or roll down the mountain). So when Sweaty Betty sent over these stunning base layers I was ready to trap the warmth against my body (even when I didn’t need it) and style a little winter weather look for you.

Base layers are so important to stay warm. Thanks so much for sharing!
That outfit looks awesome!! My friend actually taught me a trick – she layers T-shirts for the winter in the cold Philly weather!
Yes, love base layers for winter. I love wearing thermal wear/heat-tech even when I’m not snoboarding because they’re awesome for retaining heat in cold NYC.
XOXO
